About CAT Exam

For those who are preparing for CAT 2017, Common Admission Test (CAT) is a computer based selection test conducted by the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) for their business administration programs. The CAT exam is an important prerequisite for admission into more than 100 management institutes across India which includes reputed institutions like Faculty of Management Studies (FMS), S.P Jain Institute of Management and Research (SPJIMR), Management Development Institute (Gurgoan), International Management Institute (IMI), National Institute of Industrial Engineering (NITIE), Institute of Management Technology (IMT), Jamanlal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies (JBIMS) and many others.

This exam is conducted every year by IIM’s on rotational basis. Exam Dates are generally declared in the month of August every year.

CAT 2017 Exam Pattern

CAT exam pattern 2017

• CAT 2017 exam is Computer based Test (CBT) of 3 hours duration.
• CAT exam is divided into 3 main sections of 60 minutes each
• The 3 sections in CAT exam 2017 pattern are – Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension (VARC); Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning (DILR); Quantitative Aptitute (QA)
• There will also be sub sections within the 3 sections in revised CAT exam 2017 pattern. For example, the revamped CAT exam pattern for VARC consists of Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension sub sections; DILR contains questions on Data Interpretation and Logical reasoning.
• Candidates are not allowed to move between one section to other during the 1 hour assigned to the particular section.
• CAT Test takers cannot leave their seats during the exam.
• The questions in CAT 2017 exam pattern will be divided into Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) where you need to pick out 1 correct answer choice out of 4; then there are Non-MCQs where you have to type-in the correct answer on the computer screen.
• It is not necessary that you will find the answer choices for Non-MCQs in revised pattern of CAT 2017.
• Each correct answer in CAT exam pattern will be awarded 3 marks whether it is MCQ or Non-MCQ
• Each wrong answer for MCQ in CAT exam 2017 will be imposed penalty of 1/3 negative mark (-1 mark)
• There will be no penalty of negative marking on wrong answers to Non-MCQs in CAT 2017 exam pattern
• There will be sufficient number of Non-MCQs in each section of CAT 2016 exam
• The CAT 2017 convening IIM will provide full length Sample test as per CAT 2017 exam pattern one month before the CAT exam date to familiarise the candidates about the CAT 2017 exam pattern and type of questions.

Syllabus for CAT 2017 Verbal Ability & Reading comprehension (VARC)
Common Admission Test (CAT) exam Syllabus for VARC section in CAT 2017 is divided in 2 parts. The 1st part of CAT 2017 syllabus covers questions based on Reading Comprehension passages and the 2nd part of CAT 2017 exam syllabus on VARC is based on questions on different topics on Verbal Ability.

The past trend in CAT exam syllabus for VARC shows that there are 24 MCQs and 10 Non-MCQs in VARC section of CAT exam. Major topics covered in CAT 2017 syllabus for VARC and Key features of CAT syllabus for VARC are as under-

Part-1: Reading Comprehension (RC)

• Share of Reading Comprehension in VARC section of CAT exam: 70%

CAT Syllabus for Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR)
Separate DILR section in CAT exam was re-originated after keeping the section in abeyance for 4 years. During this period the DILR questions were clubbed to Quant and Verbal Ability sections respectively. In 2015 IIM Ahmedabad, the then CAT convening IIM decided to re-introduce the DILR as a separate 3rd section. The pattern was followed by IIM Bangalore in 2016 also.

CAT exam Syllabus for DILR section in CAT 2017 is divided in 2 parts – Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning. The 1st part of CAT 2017 syllabus covers questions based on Data Interpretation (DI) and the 2nd part of CAT 2017 exam syllabus on DILR is based on questions on different topics on Logical Reasoning.

Syllabus of CAT exam 2017 for Quant section is very wide. Quantitative Aptitude (Quant) is the 3rd and last section in the revamped CAT exam pattern. Syllabus of CAT 2017 for Quant is vast and covers everything in Mathematics that you may or may not expect.

About CMAT-2018 Exam

Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) is a national level entrance examination conducted by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) every year as per the directions of Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India. CMAT 2018 is the official gateway for admissions to the University MBA programs in 13 states including Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Kerala, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Haryana and Karnataka. The governments have officially notified CMAT as their official test. In addition, Many B-schools offering PGDM programs will also be using the CMAT 2018 scores. CMAT scores are accepted by around 400+ B schools running AICTE approved management programmes in India. It is the 2nd largest MBA/PGDM entrance test after CAT in the country
The CMAT is a three hour computer based online test which is conducted in a single session to evaluate the candidate’s ability across various segments like Quantitative Technique, Logical Reasoning, Language Comprehension and General Awareness.
This test facilitates Institutions to select suitable graduate candidates for admission in all Management programs.
The CMAT score is accepted by all AICTE-Approved Institutions/University Departments/Constituent Colleges/Affiliated Colleges.

• Final year students of Graduate Courses (10+2+3) whose result will be declared before commencement of admission for academic year 2017-18 can also apply for CMAT online exam.

CMAT Exam pattern

CMAT 2018 will remain an online exam for admission to AICTE approved MBA/ PGDM courses 2018-20 batch across the country. No structural and content based changes in CMAT 2017 are proposed by AICTE.

Duration of CMAT 2018 to be held in 4^th week of January 2018 will of 3 hours from 9.30AM to 12.30PM. It will be a single day single session exam instead of earlier multiple days.

The exam is divided in 4 sections with 25 MCQs in each section. Total questions are 100. All questions will carry equal marks in CMAT 2018. Each correct answer will be awarded 4 marks and there will be negative marking with 1 mark for each incorrect answer.

Exam duration 3 hours from 9.30 to 12.30: Reporting time 8 A.M. (90 minutes before the exam)

CMAT Syllabus

AICTE does not have a defined syllabus for CMAT exam. Following are the major topics to be covered in each section of CMAT

Language Comprehension

CMAT defines its Verbal Ability section as Language Comprehension. It covers comprehensive English test which includes the test of grammar, tenses, vocabulary, jumbled paragraphs and reading comprehension. Key topics from which you may expect questions are - usage of Articles, Non-finites, dangling modifiers, Nouns, Pronouns (Especially relative Pronouns), adjectives, adverbs, prepositions –regular and followed, verbs, Syntax, Subject-verb Agreement, Simple, continuous, Perfect tenses and Conditional-unreal past.

CMAT gives you shorter with 500-600 words and not too difficult passages. There is no fix rule on framing the questions based on Reading comprehension passage, which is followed by at least 4-5 questions each. Questions could be any of following types- ; Questions based on inference drawn; Questions based on the Central idea of the passage; Questions based on phrases, idioms; Questions based on expression in the passage.

Quantitative Techniques and Data Interpretation
Questions in this section are usually single and are not based on sets. While topics like table and pie chart in data interpretation section will require basic calculation skills, the topics from which most of the questions appear in quant are arithmetic (ratios, mixtures, work, averages, profit & loss, basic statistics etc), number properties, probability and counting principles with one or two odd questions in geometry and derivatives (i.e. maxima –minima).

Logical Reasoning
The section is a mix of the topics from arrangements like linear, seating, sequencing & arranging with conditions to coding. The other questions are based on statement-conclusion, logical puzzle, numerical puzzle, Venn Diagram, true/false statements, visual reasoning. The basic preparatory tip for LR is to attempt as many practice exercises as possible. They can be solved with basic human logical instinct.

General awareness
This section can be divided in three parts and each part has to be given due weightage. Conventional GK-available in books; Current GK- based on current reading of newspapers and periodicals; Business & Economics GK -for example changes in Fiscal and monetary policy, CRR, Repo Rate, Devaluation and up valuation of Rupee. Please remember current GK-whether Business, national and international has an on-going preparation method and thorough reading of the newspaper only can keep you updated.

The section covers questions on Who’s who; Constitutional knowledge; Current affairs; business; economics; currency and Capitals of the countries as well as States of India; International Organizations; monetary and fiscal tools among others. Candidates may find questions with photo and emblem identification of personalities, companies among others.

• XAT eligibility does not impose any age bar to appear in XAT 2018 exam.
• The candidate applying for XAT 2018 must fulfil one of the following XAT eligibility criteria 2018-

B. Completed professional degree (CA/CS/ICWA), or
C. Should be in the final year of Bachelor’s degree

• The percentage of marks obtained by the candidate would be calculated based on the practice as followed by the respective University/Institution.
• In case of grades / CGPA, the conversion to percentage of marks would be based on the procedure as certified by the respective University/ institution in accordance with the XAT exam eligibility criteria.
• Mere fulfilment of minimum XAT eligibility criteria 2018 will not ensure consideration for short listing by XLRI or other B-schools in which the applicant applies for admission
• One of the key points prescribed by XLRI in XAT eligibility 2018 is that the candidates must declare and maintain a valid and unique email account and a phone number throughout the selection process

XAT Exam Pattern

Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) 2018 will be conducted by XLRI Jamshedpur on behalf of XAMI on January 7, 2018 from 10AM to 1.30PM in a single session. XAT 2018 exam will be a paper pen based test.

XAT Exam pattern over the last 60 years since inception has remained a paper based test. XAT paper pattern during last few years has gone for perceptible changes in regard to XAT paper time duration, XAT exam sections, XAT marking pattern among others. But there is no change in the XAT paper pen based test switching to any other format. Despite all the changes in other exams, XLRI-XAT exam has not changed from paper based test to computer based test.

XAT question paper has been changed in regard to number of sections and in number of questions. In last 3-4 years, as XAT previous question papers reveal, XAT exam pattern has increased the time limit and number of questions in the XAT question paper have been reduced.

Now the XAT 2018 exam is divided in 2 parts. The 1^st part in XAT exam 2018 would consist of 3 sections. These 3 sections in XAT exam are Verbal Ability & Logical Reasoning; Decision Making; and Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation.

The 1^st part in XAT 2018 paper is responsible for calculation of XAT percentile score and XAT merit list.

Part-2 in XAT question paper consists of General Awareness and Essay Writing in XAT exam. These 2 sections in XAT exam are equally important although at the first stage they will not be counted for arriving at the percentile score.

Except the Essay Writing section, the other 4 sections in XAT question paper contain Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) while Essay Writing in XAT is of descriptive nature.

Accordingly, all questions will carry equal marks in XAT 2018 question paper as also revealed in XAT previous years question paper and exam pattern. There will be negative marking with 1/4 of a mark penalty for each incorrect answer in XAT 2018 exam pattern. Each question in XAT 2018 test paper will have 5 answer options. You will have to answer each question by darkening the appropriate bubble against the question number on the OMR answer sheet in XAT 2018 exam. Apart from overall cut-off percentile, the XAT 2018 exam will also have sectional cut-offs.

XAT 2018 question paper is expected to consist of following sections and number of questions mentioned against them. It is also expected that XAT 2018 exam pattern will remain unchanged and the XAT exam 2018 will be on the lines of last year XAT question paper.

The number of questions in each section in XAT exam goes on changing in each year. Going by the past XAT exam trends, XAT 2018 exam pattern may further get revamped and number of questions in each section of XAT question paper may change. Yet, it is expected that the XAT 2018 question paper may not increase the number of questions and as per the last 2 years XAT exam trends, total questions in XAT 2018 question paper may reduce further from existing 72.

• XAT 2018 test paper will be divided in 2 parts: Part I with A,B,C sections and Part II with GK and Essay writing sections.
• All questions in XAT 2018 test paper in 1st three A, B, C sections with 24, 21 and 27 MCQs respectively would carry uniform marking pattern with maximum 1 mark awarded for each correct answer
• Score in Part I of XAT 2018 exam paper will be accounted for while determining the merit position and shortlisting for PI round
• Part I in XAT 2018 exam will have 3 sections A, B and C in Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) form
• Section A in XAT test paper 2018 would be on Verbal Ability & Logical reasoning and is proposed to have 24 questions
• The Section B will be on Decision Making and would consist of 21 questions
• Section C in XAT 2018 exam on Quantitative Ability is proposed to have 27 questions

XAT Syllabus

The Syllabus for Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) is not strictly pre defined. XAT Exam Syllabus has never had any boundaries and this fact also applies to define the XAT 2018 exam syllabus. XAT Syllabus is based on past trend of XAT exams and the XAT exam syllabus is the outcome of the topics which have earlier appeared in XAT exam although the type of questions, their composition, format and number may change in each subsequent XAT exam.

The key point in syllabus for XAT exam is that there is no repetition of XAT questions in any XAT exam although difficulty level of the questions in XAT exam would not go out of XAT exam syllabus.

XLRI-XAT entrance exam syllabus or XAT 2018 exam Syllabus is not pre-defined by XAT 2018 convening XLRI, Jamshedpur nor the XAT syllabus was outlined earlier also. Syllabus of XAT exam 2018 is based on the mentioned guidelines and current structure of XAT exam.

Past tendencies reflect that XAT exam syllabus and pattern overall tests the candidate on Verbal Ability, Reading Comprehension & Logical Reasoning; Decision Making; Quantitative Aptitude & Data Interpretation as the key sections to determine your percentile and merit position.

The other 2 sections – General Awareness (GK) and Essay Writing also do not have any pre defined syllabus in XAT exam. You can be asked any question in GK while most of the times the essay topic is abstract in XAT exam.

XAT exam Syllabus covers all the major topics on all the above test sections. XAT 2018 syllabus is proposed to be based on the past paper patterns which contain questions from all the sections.

The fact is that you will find it difficult to prepare for XAT unless you know the XLRI-XAT entrance exam syllabus. XAT MBA exam syllabus is much more wide than one can anticipate. XLRI- XAT syllabus does not leave any study topic untouched. The glimpses of XAT syllabus for MBA admission 2018-20 in XLRI, SPJIMR, IMT, XIMB and other top B-schools is a testimony to this fact. Going by the past trends and past XAT exam pattern, XAT complete syllabus for each section of Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) is shared below to help the XAT 2018 aspirants to prepare in accordance with the XAT 2018 exam syllabus.

Section-1

Verbal Ability, Reading Comprehension & Logical Reasoning

Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) exam Syllabus for Verbal Ability, Reading Comprehension and Logical Reasoning section in XAT 2018 is divided in 3 parts. The 1^st part of XAT 2018 syllabus covers questions based on Verbal Ability; 2^nd part of XAT 2018 exam syllabus on the 1st section covers Reading Comprehension passages and the 3^rd part of XAT 2018 exam syllabus on VARC & LR section is based on questions on different topics on Logical Reasoning.

The revamped pattern in XAT exam syllabus for VARC & LR section shows that there are 24 MCQs in this section of XAT exam. Major topics covered in XAT 2018 syllabus for VARC & LR are-

Part-1: Verbal Ability

Part-3: XAT exam Syllabus for Logical Reasoning (LR)

• Share of LR questions in XAT syllabus for 2018 exam is not very high. Usually there are few critical reasoning and a few LR based questions in XAT exam. All questions are of MCQ type.
• Topics covered in XAT exam syllabus 2018 on which LR questions are based: Analogy, Clocks, calendars, Fact, Inference, Judgement, binary logic, seating arrangement, blood relations, logical sequence, assumption, premise, conclusion among others.

Part-1: Quantitative Ability

Topics on which DI questions are based: Data Tables, Data charts, bar diagrams, Pie charts, Graphs, Data analysis and comparison among others. All the questions are of MCQ type.

DI questions in XAT exam are in the set of 4 questions. Questions on interpretation and analysis of data based on text, tables, graphs (line, area), charts (column, bar, pie), venn diagram, are asked. Data could be given in form of tables, charts or graphs. In this section it is tested that how candidates can interpret the given data and answer questions based on it.

XAT syllabus for GK and Essay Writing

Second part in XAT exam has 2 sections. One is General Awareness (GK) which consists of MCQs and other is Essay Writing Test in which you have to write a well worded essay on a given topic.

General Knowledge

As per the changed pattern of XAT exam, there would be 25 questions of Multiple Choice type in XAT 2018 exam.

Economics, finance, national and international current affairs are a few of the many topics on which questions are placed in this section in XAT exam. Questions are also based on conventional GK. In-depth and regular reading of GK helps more as sometimes a few GK questions in XAT appear more tricky and need intensive reading.

Essay Writing

Essay writing in XAT is the test of writing skill of an aspirant. This section needs a well worded essay on the contemporary or abstract topic. Test taker has to write essay on one topic but sometimes there is choice to choose between 2 topics and sometimes there is no choice at all.

The test taker is supposed to write after giving a thought and produce a better piece of writing in 20-25 minutes. Ideal size of essay in XAT exam is around 300-400 words. Essay in XAT plays important role in the final selection PI round as questions are based on it.

About SNAP Exam

Candidates aspiring to join MBA / MSc (CA) / MSc (SS) programmes offered by institutes of Symbiosis International University have to take the common, mandatory Symbiosis National Aptitude (SNAP) Online Test 2017. A candidate needs to register for SNAP Test & also register for the institutes offering his/ her choice of programmes by paying separate programmes registration fees. If shortlisted, he/she would then need to attend the GROUP EXERCISE, PERSONAL INTERACTION AND WRITING ABILITY TEST (GE-PIWAT) process conducted by each of these institutes individually.

SNAP Eligibility

Graduate from any recognized / statutory University or Institute with a minimum of 50% marks (45% for SC/ST). Programmes which require specific discipline/ subject specialisation need to be checked for eligibility as given by the respective Institute.

A candidate who has completed qualifying degree from any Foreign University must obtain an equivalence certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). All foreign degrees/ qualifications need to be verified from AIU by the candidate before seeking admission to any programme of SIU.

About NMATby GMC Exam

Till 2014 NMIMS Mumbai conducted NMAT exam for admission to its flagship MBA/PGDM programmes. In March 2015, Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC), the owner of GMAT exam acquired NMAT 2017 exam and changed the name of NMAT to NMAT by GMAC. Since then NMAT which used to be the entrance exam only for admission to flagship MBA programme at Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS), is known by NMAT by GMAC and is the MBA entrance test for 19 other MBA/PGDM institutes apart from NMIMS. Now there is no NMAT 2017 and the name of the exam is NMAT by GMAC 2017.

NMAT by GMC Eligibility

To be eligible for NMAT 2017 exam (Now NMAT by GMAC 2017), a candidate should know the eligibility criteria of the B-school where he/she wants to apply. The eligibility criteria to appear in NMAT by GMAC have not been separately specified.

For example anyone with recognized bachelor’s degree below or above 50% marks can register for NMAT exam in 2017 (Now NMAT by GMAC 2017). But if the particular B-school needs minimum 50% marks in graduation, it will be the responsibility of the candidate to ensure that he/she is eligible to be considered for admission. Merely being eligible for NMAT 2017 exam (Now NMAT by GMAC) is not sufficient to become eligible for the B-school, which may have different criteria.

According to instructions for NMAT by GMAC 2017 “All test takers who complete the Test Registration process pay the test fee within the time specified and follow the published NMAT by GMAC exam terms and conditions may sit for the NMAT by GMAC exam. It is the responsibility of the test taker to understand the eligibility requirements of all the universities and schools to which he/she is interested in applying before registering for NMAT by GMAC exam. If the test taker registers for the test and then determine that he/she is ineligible for admission to the desired program, no test fee refund will be made. For the eligibility requirements, test takers are advised to check the websites of each university and school where they plan to apply.”

NMAT by GMC Exam Pattern

NMAT by GMC form is conducted as an online exam in 75 days testing window. The exam is a computer based objective type multiple-choice test.

NMAT 2017 (NMAT by GMAC) will be a computer-delivered exam. NMAT 2017 gives each candidate a randomly generated test from a pool of questions, delivered one-at-a-time. The number of questions, difficulty levels, and the time limit for each of the sections in NMAT 2017 is predetermined and, under normal administration conditions, remain the same regardless of when and where the NMAT 2017 (NMAT by GMAC) test is administered. Candidates have a choice of selecting the order/sequence of the NMAT test sections.

The 3 sections in NMAT by GMAC 2017 exam – Language Skills, Quantitative Skills and Logical Reasoning are individually timed. The exam is computer based test. Questions are in MCQ format. In total there will be 120 questions. Test takers must answer questions and review answers of each section within the allotted time. Test takers must review their answers before moving to another section of the exam, as once the candidate closes out of a section, all answers are final.

Syllabus for NMAT by GMAC remains almost the same as used to be for NMAT till 2014. Following are the major topics to be covered in each section.

About MAT Exam

Management Aptitude Test (MAT) is the standardised National entrance exam for MBA/PGDM courses in the B-schools of India. All India Management Association (AIMA) conducts Management Aptitude Test (MAT) 4 times in a year in the months of February, May, September and December. Out of the four MAT 2017 exams, two have already been conducted and the next is to be conducted in September 2017.

The scores of February and May 2017 MAT exams will be applicable for admission to academic session 2017-18 in around 700 B-schools including the MBA/MMS programmes in the 400 B-schools of Maharashtra.

The score of rest two MAT exams to be conducted in the months of September and December 2017 could be utilised in the admission for MBA/PGDM courses for academic session 2018-19.

MAT Eligibility

• Graduates in any discipline can take the exam.
• Final year graduation students can also apply.
• There’s no age limit for MAT exam.

MAT Exam Pattern

Although MAT September 2017 exam will be held as Paper pen based test and also as computer based online MAT exam, experts and mentors on MAT and past MAT toppers suggest the candidates to opt for paper based MAT exam as candidates can view and prioritise their choice of sections in one go as compared to computer based exam. Besides, according to them it is easier to answer the questions in paper based form than in computerised exam.

Although MAT Syllabus contains all the topics on which questions are asked in other MBA entrance exams also, past MAT question papers and the MAT exam pattern reveal that MAT syllabus does not throw tough questions in the MAT exam. Scores of MAT September 2017 exam will be used as admission criteria in B-schools across the country for the academic session 2018-19.

MAT question paper is based on the MAT exam pattern which is an objective type test with Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs). MAT Syllabus comprises almost all the topics relevant to other top MBA entrance exams. The MAT question paper is divided among 5 key sections on which questions are formed in MAT exam.

The 5 test sections in September MAT 2017 exam will be Language Comprehension, Mathematical skills, Data Analysis and Sufficiency, Intelligence and Critical Reasoning, Indian and Global Environment.

Score and percentile in MAT exam is awarded on the basis of 4 sections. The score of Indian & Global Environment is separately shown but is not taken into account to calculate the merit or percentile score in the MAT score card.

Each of the 5 sections in MAT question paper will have 40 questions making it a total of 200 questions in MCQ format to be solved in 150 minutes. Individual time limit for each section has been suggested by AIMA although candidates can move from one section to other in the September MAT 2017 exam.

Mathematical skills
Topics covered in MAT syllabus on Mathematical skills, broadly are Elementary Mathematics; Arithmetic:- Number System, Ratio and Proportion, Mixtures and Allegation; Unitary Method; Time and Distance; Commercial Maths; Profit and Loss, Interest; Geometry; Triangles, Circles; Mensuration; Algebra Permutation and Combinations; Sequence And Series; Trigonometry Heights and Distance; Linear Programming; Coordinate Geometry. MAT syllabus as it reflects consists of more topics on Arithmetic in MAT question paper.

Data Analysis and Sufficiency
This section as per the MAT question paper is more time consuming. The questions in September MAT question paper can be expected in sets as well as individual ones.

Indian and Global Environment
MAT syllabus on Indian and Global Environment expects you to know everything under the Sun. About IIFT Exam

The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) was set up in 1963 by the Government of India as an autonomous organisation to help professionalise the country's foreign trade management and increase exports by developing human resources, analysing and disseminating data and conducting research.
Indian Institute of Foreign Trade conducts its national level post-graduation entrance exam, known as IIFT. The test is conducted for admissions to its MBA in International Business program at two of its campuses- IIFT Delhi and Kolkata.

• Candidates appearing for a qualifying examination can also apply subject to submission of proof of requisite qualification by 8 ^th October 2018.
• In order to qualify as an international candidate for the purpose of applying to IIFT entrance exam, a candidate should have been (expected to be) resident outside India for a period of not less than 18 months as on 31st December 2017 and be outside India during the IIFT examination window. The Indian nationals who are living, working, studying abroad should produce with application a certificate from the Indian Embassy/High Commission/ Consulate of the country where the candidate is currently based, stating that the candidate has been resident in that country continuously for a period of not less than 18 months as on 31st December 2017.
• Foreign nationals need to have a valid passport/travel document from a country other than India. The Foreign nationals who are present in India at the time of IIFT entrance test are required to take the same.
• The candidate should produce Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) score which should be received by the Institute latest by 15th February 2018. GMAT taken before 1 ^st January 2016 is not valid.
• If the candidate has appeared for any MBA entrance examination for that year in India (2017) such as CAT /XAT /IIFT, etc., he /she is not eligible to apply.
• NRI-Sponsored and Children of NRI candidates are not considered under this category.

IIFT Exam Pattern

IIFT entrance test is conducted in paper pencil mode and will be of 2 hours duration from 10.00 A.M. to 12.00 Noon. IIFT 2017 is proposed to be held in a single session in 20 test cities across India on December 3, 2017.

IIFT entrance test consists of multiple choice objective type questions (MCQs). The test is divided in 4 sections comprising questions on English Comprehension, General Knowledge & Awareness, Logical Reasoning and Quantitative Analysis.

There are no fixed number of questions in IIFT entrance test, their number may go anywhere in the range of 115 to 130. IIFT 2016 had 123 questions while IIFT 2015 had 124 questions in MCQ format.

Maximum overall marks in IIFT entrance are 100. A penalty of 1/3^rd marks will be awarded for every wrong answer. The candidates therefore have to be careful to avoid this negative marking by choosing the answer options with well calculated thought process.

Going by the IIFT 2016 MBA entrance exam pattern , out of the total 100 marks the distribution of marks in IIFT 2017 entrance with number of questions and weightage assigned to each of them, is expected to be on following pattern

IIFT Syllabus

The written admission test to MBA Programme in IIFT consists of multiple choice objective type questions (in English). The 2 hours IIFT December 2017 entrance would comprise the questions covering English Comprehension, General Knowledge & Awareness, Logical Reasoning and Quantitative Analysis.

Quantitative Ability

Number of question in this section can be somewhere between 20 to 25. It is expected that in IIFT December 2017, 20 questions will appear. Major topics covered in this section are Probability, Integers, Time, distance, speed/Time & work, Percentage, Other Arithmetic questions, Algebra, Mensuration, Log theory, Geometry, Permutation combination

English Comprehension

English comprehension is composed of core verbal ability and questions on Reading comprehension passages.

Around 36 questions on English comprehension are expected to appear in IIFT 2017 entrance test on following topics One word substitution, Fill in the blanks, Jumbled sentences, Analogy, Phrasal explanation, Grammatically correct or incorrect sentences, Figures of speech, Spelling correction, Antonyms, Active-Passive, Reading comprehension passages

The Verbal Ability part in English Comprehension section carries a marking pattern with 0.75 mark awarded to correct answers in Verbal Ability area. The Reading comprehension part consists of 15 to 16 questions in MCQ format and would carry a credit of 1 mark for each correct answer.

Logical Reasoning

Logical reasoning section is expected to have 20 to 22 questions based on blood relations, seating arrangements, series, analogy, sets. IIFT covers almost all the topics in logical reasoning with 1 or 2 questions on each. Statements, arguments, conclusions are a few favourite topics which require more in depth study.

In last year exam IIFT clubbed Logical Reasoning to Data Interpretation section.

Data Interpretation

20 questions are expected in this section. IIFT asks 19-21 DI questions in different data forms like tables and bar diagrams. The information part is followed by 4-5 questions so it’s worth trying with patience. A little more practice can be of great help in this section.

DI questions were clubbed to LR section in IIFT 2016. They can be made a part of quant section.

General Awareness

25-28 questions could be there to test the General Awareness of the aspirants in IIFT Nov 2017 entrance exam. Questions cover conventional as well as current national and international affairs and relevant economic, business topics apart from major policy decisions.

Questions can also be based to test the aspirants’ awareness about the birthday of famous personalities; their work; Constitution of India; fictional characters.

The candidate may attempt any question from any section during the time allotted to attempt the test in the examination.

KMAT 2017 is proposed to be conducted with moderate level of difficulty without creating confusion in paper-pencil mode. The exam will have MCQs only. Section wise syllabus for KMAT 2017 is as follows-

Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension
English language ability would be tested through questions on Grammar, vocabulary, sentence completion, synonyms, antonyms,comprehension of passages etc. There would be questions on understanding of the contents of the passages and choice of appropriate words, phrases, expressions and similar language skills. This shall include the passages with questions based on their contents to test comprehension.

Logical and Abstract Reasoning
This shall include questions to measure how quickly and accurately you can think. The section may have questions in sets as well individual ones based on Verbal Reasoning, analogy among others.

Quantitative Ability
The questions in this section will be of matriculation standard.This shall include questions to know how fast and accurate you can work with numbers, do numerical calculations, understand various arithmetic problems involving ratio & proportion,percentage, interest, time & speed etc. Apart from Arithmetic, the questions may also be based on Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry and parts of mathematics. This test also helps to measure your power of quantitative reasoning, interpretation of tables, common graphs & charts.

About TANCET Exam

Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET) is organized by Anna University, Chennai on the behalf of Government of Tamil Nadu. It is a state level entrance exam to offer admission into M.Tech/M.E./ M.Plan/M.Arch/MBA/MCA/ and lateral entry of MCA programme. The entrance exam is conducted one time in a year. Through this exam, candidates can get admission in various Government and Government aided institutions of Tamil Nadu state.

TANCET Eligibility

TANCET Exam Pattern

TANCET 2018 exam will be held on 2^nd week of June 2018. The examination of MCA& MBA will be organized on the same date but in different time. The exam of ME/M.Tech/M.Arch/M.Plan will be conducted on different dates. The exam pattern will consist of the following given below:

• Exam Duration: The duration of the exam will be about two hours.
• No. of Questions: Total 100 questions will be asked in the examination.
• Type of Questions: The question will be of multiple type questions.
• Marking Scheme: One mark will be allotted to the candidates for correct answer.
• Negative Marking: For incorrect answer, 1/3 marks will be deducted.
• Attempts: In ME/M.Tech/M.Arch/M.Plan section, PART I & II is compulsory. PART III according to the discipline selected during registration.
